Ooty

Udhagamandalam, popularly called as Ooty is an illustrious hill station situated in The Nilgiri Hills. Even though it is located in Tamilnadu, the place is much closer to Bangalore. Fondly addressed as the 'Queen of hills', Ooty is undoubtedly a nature's gift to the southern state that the place is perfect escape from noisy cities and hot climate. Yercaud

Coonoor hill station is an ideal base camp for a lot of trekking junkets extending into the Nilgiris. Anamalai Hills

Popularly called as Topslip, Anamalai Hills is one of the most visited hill stations located in the territorial dominion of Coimbatore. Topslip is situated at 800 feet above sea level on the Anamalai range of mountains. Anamalai Hills is actually a diminutive location in Anamalai Tiger Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary that belongs to the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu at the southerly part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The hill station is famous because of its natural less human intervened wild life and greenery.

Kolli Hills


Hill stations in Tamil Nadu

Fondly called as Kolli Malai by the Tamil speaking population, this hill station is a small range of mountains situated in central part of the state in Namakkal district. Kolli Hills is mentioned in a lot of Tamil classical literature like Purananuru, Manimekalai, Silappathigaram and Ainkurnuru. The Kolli Hills is about 4265.09 ft in altitude and sprawls across an area of approximately 280 sq.km.

The Kolli Hills feature whooping seventy hair pin bends to touch the peak of the hills. A part of the Eastern Ghats range of mountains that extends generally parallel to the east coast of South part of India. The hills are comparatively uninfluenced by human intervention and still continue their natural prospects.

Sirumalai

Top Hill Stations of Tamil Nadu

A popular landmark of Dindigul district, Sirumalai which can be translated as 'Small hill' in the local language of Tamil is a hilly region of 60,000 acres. Sirumalai is located at a distance of 40 km from Madurai and 25 km from the city center of Dindigul. The hill station is one among the most frequented hill stations in Tamil Nadu for its scenic beauty and pleasant climatic conditions.

Sirumalai is the home of a wide variety of flora and fauna which include several medicinal herbaceous plants. Furthermore, the hill boasts almost eighteen hair-pin bends which is the primary distinctiveness of this notable tourist spot. On the eighteenth hair-pin bend, visitors can find a spectacular view point from where one can catch the whole view of Dindigul city.

Valparai


Valparai Hills

Located at a distance of 65 km from Pollachi and 100 km from the city center of Coimbatore, Valparai is an important hill station of Tamil Nadu. Valparai is situated 1,193 m above sea level on the famous Anaimalai Hills range of the Western Ghats in Coimbatore district. This hill station is illustrious for its hairpin bends that there are almost forty hairpin bends en route to Valparai from Azhiyar.

Valparai is considered as a mid-elevation hill station that it is a major place for tea plantations that are fenced by evergreen woods. The area is the home of a lot of Asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus) and is distinguished to have many leopards (Panthera pardus). The hill station is also an important home ground of the Nilgiri Tahr, an endemic wild goat.
